Cities: Skylines 2 – New Editor Tool
Cities: Skylines 2 was released last week. Colossal Order has been busy tackling performance issues and quirky conspiracies about character teeth. Today, they shared a cool video of their upcoming editor tool.
First peek at Cities: Skylines 2 editor.
Sin’s Cities: Skylines 2 review suggested it wasn’t a major improvement. In my view, the game’s innovations are mainly behind the scenes, setting the stage for an exciting future of mods and, of course, paid DLC.
The editor appears to support my baseless hope. It simplifies map and asset creation, unlike the separate editors for Colossal Order’s original game, and even newcomers like me can find it approachable in the video.
Modding was a big deal in Cities: Skylines 1, and the sequel aims to continue that tradition. To make the game consistent between PC and console versions, it’s replacing Steam Workshop with its own mod platform called Paradox Mods. This is great for console players but not so great for folks like me who like having everything on Steam. We don’t have a release date yet for these modding tools, but they should be coming soon.
