Cities: Skylines 2 mod release date & updates from Paradox
Cities: Skylines 2 developer teams reports that mods from this gamer won’t be available “very soon”. Both the Editor and Cities: Skylines 2 mod will be released later, at the separate launch date.
Cities: Skylines 2 mods are pretty much guaranteed to be one of the most important parts of the city-building game, created by Paradox and Colossal Order. The changes in this new game are massive: including updates to roads and junctions, traffic, management, services, and much more.
The updates in the sequel may not be overly surprising to the players using mods – after all, many of these features were already available in the first game, due to the tireless work of the Cities modding community. But there are still plenty of things developers have missed – and there are plenty of new changes and features that modders will add to the game, making it interesting for years to come.
The game has already been released: and you can see for yourself, just how many changes and updates have already been added. Paradox Games have already confirmed that mods will be available in the game. However, they will be added at a later date, and won’t be available “super close” to the game’s release. This means that the players will have to wait.
To be more specific, the community manager Madeleine ‘Maddie’ Jonsson, stated that “Don’t expect ‘hours.’ I would probably expect ‘days.’”
What does it mean for the Cities: Skylines 2 release date? Well, for one, it probably means that we shouldn’t expect the wait to take many months, and we can expect the Cities 2 mods to be released at some point in 2023, most likely mid-November to mid-December.
We fully expect the modding library to be opened with plenty of mods already in place, and the developer team is probably hard at work, trying to optimize the existing Cities: Skylines mods to work with the new game. The good news is, both games are built with Unity, which should significantly speed up the entire process.
Earlier, Paradox have confirmed that it would go through all the Cities 2 mods, and will move the mods from Steam Workshop, right to their brand new Paradox Mods platform, which should help unify the mod use process for both console and PC gamers.
With a new system, and a massive game, significantly bigger than the original Cities release, we can naturally expect the modding transfer process, as well as the whole modding experience to be taken to a whole new level.
For now, check out the new massive Cities: Skylines 2 maps, so you can start planning what massive cities you will be building. But before you get too excited, also check out the Cities: Skylines 2 system requirements, so you can see if your computer can handle it. Spoiler alert: you’ll need a solid machine to run this city.
